DESTINATIONS - PHUKET CITY TOUR
Promthep Cape is a simple rocky hill with no immediate interest. However, this is the most southerly point on the island at it is sunsets and views of Phuket's southern coast you are here for! A flight of steps leads to the top of Promthep Cape and from there you have an excellent view of the "half-moon" bay housing Nai Harn Beach.
The site also has a lighthouse with an observation level. From the observation level, the views are even better! This is the ultimate spot to watch the sun setting over the water. The colors of the sunsets produce are extremely rich and seem to permeate the air around you! If you have time, try to make a sunset - it's well worth the effort.
Details: A visit to Promthep Cape is often combined with a trip to Wat Chalong and Rawai Beach, which are on the way from Phuket town.

Phuket Old Town and Walking Street (Sunday Afternoon)
Phuket Old Town has a group of buildings which were reminiscent of European architecture. The beginning of the tin boom in the 19th century led to construction of many fine mansions and shops that are still well preserved. The architectural style, typical of the region, is described as Sino-Portuguese and has a strongly Mediterranean character.
At the heart of Phuket's Old Town is where you can find Thalang Road, the commercial center of Phuket's past. Other streets which you will see the "Old Phuket" are Phang-nga road, Yaowarat road, Krabi road, and specially on Dibuk Road you can find old wooden doors with Chinese fretwork carving. Some other old European-style buildings of note are the Provincial Hall, the Phuket Courthouse, and the Siam City Bank.
Patong Beach is simply where Phuket's action is! It's by far the most frequented destination on Phuket and has just about everything a tourist could desire - it is therefore Phuket's most developed beach! Located 15 kilometers to the west of Phuket town, this 3-kilometer-long white sand beach is jam packed with hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops sitting alongside dive shops, travel agents and the outlets that cater for the windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing and parasailing that goes on around the beach. Despite the often frenetic activity, the water remains reasonably clean and suitable for swimming - there are actually separate 'lanes' for swimmers and those involved in water sports.
Patong is particularly famous for its nightlife, which some say might rival that of Pattaya. Given that, Patong may not be as family friendly as the other beaches in the area. It is though a good place to start your exploration of the surrounding areas and a variety of tours are available that include Kayaking in Phang Nga, half-day snorkeling trips to islands off Phuket, sightseeing tours around the rest of island, and fishing trips into the open sea. Patong is also a good place to arrange your 'live aboard' diving trips (October to May).
The most important of the 29 buddhist temples of Phuket is Wat Chalong (Thai: วัดฉลอง) or formally Wat Chaiyathararam (Thai: วัดไชยธาราราม), located in the Chalong Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. It is dedicated to two highly venerable monks, Luang Pho Chaem (หลวงพ่อแช่ม) and Luang Pho Chuang (หลวงพ่อช่วง), who led the citizens of Chalong Subdistrict fighting against the Chinese rebellion in 1876 and with their knowledge of herbal medicine helped the injured.
Kata - Karon View Point
Also known as Three-Beach Viewpoint as once you reach its peak perched in the south of Kata Beach, in front of you is the breathtaking view of beautiful Kata Noi, Kata and Karon beaches as well as the deep-blue Andaman sea. The viewpoint is located along the ring road, half-way between Nai Harn Beach and Kata Noi Beach.
